Squat Thrust

The Squat Thrust (also called a Burpee) is a total body exercise that can really get your heart pounding and lungs gasping. Sound like torture? Not really, just a heck of a good workout and a real fat blaster.

ST’s are perfect for high intensity circuits or intervals that combine resistance training with cardio.

Now if you're unfamiliar with this one, enter with a measure of caution. And senior beginners should wait until they've built a reasonable fitness base, or do just a few reps to see what they're like. I'll say it again: ST's are intense.

For more advanced trainees: Accept the challenge!

The video

First Jennifer demonstrates a few plain-vanilla thrusts, which are tough enough as they are. Then she shows a few that include a push-up. I think you'll agree that is this one is true total body challenge.

As always, watch the video a few times and create a mental picture. People hurt themselves when their form is sloppy. Breathe naturally and often.
