Workouts: Do a Bit of Everything.

I like variety so I include various workouts in my training schedule. I've been a member of L.A. Fitness for just over 24 years. I joined a year after they opened with just the one gym.
I used to workout before going to my job (second shift). Now I only go for the spinning classes twice a week. I have a gym in my garage with a bunch of weights I've accumulated over the years. I also bought a used Smith Machine as I figured it was safer than free benching as I work out alone.
I do 50 - 60 minutes three days a week. Then my wife and I take a yoga class almost every Saturday morning, and on my off day I do Tai Chi, which I learned almost 20 years ago. I don't know the self defense part. Just the slow motion form which takes about 1/2 hour from start to finish.
Although I have always enjoyed working out and started in my late teens (I'll be 68 next month, Aug 09), I have been better at sticking to it since I retired 10 years ago.
I have to admit that I have some aches and pains now that I never had when I was younger, especially my rotator cuffs and lower back. So I'm certainly not a big time weight lifter. But I am consistent with my workouts and hope to continue for the rest of my life.
I know I feel MUCH better when I'm working out regularly. Feeling good physically helps to feel good mentally. So hang in there everyone! Just keep at it. Or if you haven't started yet, get started and see just what fits your likes. You won't regret it.
